OneHealth for global health

Human, wildlife, and environmental health depend on healthy ecosystems. As landscapes change to meet the growing demands of people, animal populations are forced to adapt and find new places to live and feed. Sometimes this brings them into closer contact with people.

Our researchers study animals and viruses and how they interact to allow spillover. We are at the frontlines of spillover to help ensure that the systems that safeguard our wellbeing are maintained.

International and Interdisciplinary

We integrate knowledge from fields such as biology, epidemiology, and social sciences.

We study animal movement, molecular processes, and Earth systems to learn how landscape change influences human and animal physiology.

Sensible and Sustainable

Outbreaks of zoonotic disease instil panic and fear, cost human lives, and demand that funds from other public and health projects be diverted toward outbreak management.

Our landscape restoration project in Australia, targets spillover at its source by reviving ecosystem processes that are natural barriers to spillover. We believe in investing in prevention to stop spillover before it happens.
