Kelsee Baranowski, Graduate Student, USA

Kelsee is a PhD Candidate and National Science Foundation Fellow at Penn State University. She earned her BS in Biology with a focus in Ecology also at Penn State. Kelsee has a background in big data management and remote sensing data, as she is a licensed drone pilot. She previously worked as Chief Image Curator for PlantVillage, a platform using machine learning models to help farmers diagnose crop diseases. She is broadly interested in understanding the spatiotemporal food availability for flying foxes and investigating how winter bottlenecks relate to Hendra virus spillover. She hopes to better understand the mechanisms behind spillover events and create risk maps for zoonotic diseases.
