Cara Brook, PI, USA
Cara is a Miller Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of California-Berkeley. She received her PhD from the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University in 2017, during which time she pioneered a longitudinal field study tracking viral and immunodynamics in endemic flying foxes in Madagascar. Her research bridges field ecology, immunology, and epidemiology in an attempt to decipher the mechanistic underpinnings of viral transmission dynamics in these flying fox populations. She also investigates a series of within-host questions, using both theoretical and cell culture tools to understand the evolution of pathogen virulence in bat hosts.
